Marc Bathgate

Marc Bathgate
Vice President Alternative Investments

Marc performs information/technology due diligence and financial analysis. He specializes in equity placements, most often for public companies (PIPEs). Prior to joining Bathgate Capital Partners full time, Marc worked in IT consulting. He also held various positions in student government at Claremont McKenna College including Chief Financial Officer, Vice President, and President. Marc graduated from CMC in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In addition to his investment banking duties, Marc manages IT for BCP and is the Kent Denver School Alumni Association President.
 
Michael Donnelly

Michael Donnelly
Vice President of Investment Banking

Michael performs company screens, due diligence and financial analysis. He also acts as the global coordinator and helps manage deal flow. Prior to joining BCP, Michael was one of the former Student Body Presidents of the University of Colorado and oversaw the University's 12, $28 M cost centers. He received his BS in Finance from the University of Colorado and also holds his Series 7 license.

J.D. began his business career in 1979 as a tax specialist with Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte & Touche), and later was co-owner of Mitchell Finley & Company, a Denver-based full-service accounting firm. In 1994 J.D. joined MetroGolf, Inc. as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer where he successfully completed MetroGolfs initial public offering and was instrumental in growing the start-up company to over 125 employees. Upon the sale of MetroGolf in 1998, J.D. joined Phillips Capital, a Denver-based broker/dealer firm specializing in private debt and equity capital raises primarily for Colorado companies and projects. In January 2006 Mr. Finley co-founded Proteus Capital Partners, Inc., an affiliate of GVC Capital that specializes in providing corporate finance services for a variety of businesses. J.D. holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Boise State University and a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Denver.
 
Jon Kruljac

Jon Kruljac
Director of Corporate Finance and Institutional Sales

Jon focuses on institutional private placements for public companies. He has over 20 years of experience in institutional sales and corporate finance. He is also the President of Monarch Consulting Inc., an institutional investment banking consulting firm that specializes in the needs of microcap companies. Monarch Consulting is an affiliate of BCP. Jon targets quality companies who may not have an institutional shareholder base or access to institutional pools of capital. Prior to founding Monarch, he worked with Bankers Trust Securities, Hanifen Imhoff, Inc., and Oppenheimer & Co., covering west coast and Asian institutional investors. Jon received his BS in Oriental Studies from the University of Arizona.
 
Ed Larkin

Ed Larkin
Director of Valuation Services

Ed has spent over 30 years acting in various managerial capacities in compliance, corporate finance, financial operations and research. He began his career with the National Association of Securities Dealers and was appointed to the national anti-fraud task force. Since then, he has acted as Chief Financial Officer and President of a Denver based brokerage firm and has worked with finance teams that raised approximately $700 million in equity. He has extensive experience in evaluating telecommunications, alternative fuel and biomedical technologies as well as extensive involvement in the early stage capitalization and research coverage of Frontier Airlines. Ed maintains his Series 7 and received his BS in Accounting from the University of Colorado and MBA from the University of Denver.
 
Morris McDonald

Morris joined GVC Capital in 2001. Prior to that, he spent 30 years working in the real estate finance and investment banking industries. In the real estate finance arena, he was the Chief Financial Officer of the then largest mortgage banking firm in Denver. He started his own real estate finance boutique with a partner, and they privately placed debt and equity with institutional clients. As an investment banker, Morris was a bond trader for a large bank in San Francisco. He served as a General Partner in the Investment Banking Department of Boettcher & Company and as a board member, stockholder, and Managing Director of a forty-member broker dealer. In 2006, he co-founded Proteus Capital Partners Inc., an affiliate of GVC Capital that specializes in providing corporate finance services for a variety of businesses. Morris received his BA in English from the University of North Carolina and MBA in Finance from Columbia University.
 
Ron Schutz

Ron Schutz
Director of Investment Banking

Ron joined BCP in 2009 as Director of Investment Banking. Based in the Pacific Northwest region, Ron brings three plus decades of finance & investment experience to BCP. Previous assignments with a variety of publicly traded financial institutions have included but not limited to a specialty lender (Source Capital Leasing Co. where he served as President), regional banks (Rainier National Bank and First Interstate of Washington, N.A.) as well as the bulge bracket investment bank of Morgan Stanley. Immediately prior to joining BCP, Ron spent 5 years with Huntwood Industries, a closely-held middle-market family business engaged in the building products industry. During this time he served as Director of Corporate Development and Finance at Huntwood Industries, and then for a period of time as CFO for the gold & silver exploration company, Hunt Mountain Resources Ltd (HNTM). It was at HNTM where global capital marketing networking travels took Ron to such cities as (Chicago, Toronto, New York, London, Frankfurt, Geneva, Monte Carlo and Mumbai). Ron holds an MBA in Management and a BA in Economics from City University of Seattle, and Western Washington University, respectively. Most recent academic work includes PhD studies in Management at Northcentral University. Ron has a CLP designation from the CLP Foundation, the primary educational body covering leasing. He also holds the FINRA licenses 7 & 66. Professional membership includes the Association of Corporate Growth, the Society of Human Resource Management and the Association of Strategic Planning. Outside activities include Rotary International and martial arts where in 2006 he earned his Black Belt in Modern Kenpo.
 
Kelly Walters

Kelly Walters

Kelly specializes in the energy and clean technology, advanced materials, and chemicals sectors. He is founder and managing principal of Walters Advisory LLC, a similarly-focused strategy and consulting firm and draws on over 12 years of relevant experience at Lehman Brothers, ThinkEquity Partners, Morgan Joseph & Co., Lexmark International, and Capital Holding Corporation. Kelly earned an MA in International Finance, Trade and Investment Policy from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce at the University of Kentucky where he also earned an MBA in Finance with highest honors and a BA in Economics. Kelly is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
